This article will help you to install R programming language on Ubuntu system.
Adding Repository:
To install latest R packages add the following repository in /etc/apt/sources.list file as per your Ubuntu version.
Ubuntu 15.04
deb http://cran.rstudio.com/bin/linux/ubuntu vivid/
Ubuntu 14.10
deb http://cran.rstudio.com/bin/linux/ubuntu utopic/
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
deb http://cran.rstudio.com/bin/linux/ubuntu trusty/
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
deb http://cran.rstudio.com/bin/linux/ubuntu precise/
Install R Packages:
Add the packages signing key first using following command.
$ sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys E084DAB9
Now install R packages using following command.
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install r-base r-base-dev
Access R Console:
At this point you have successfully install R language packages on your system. Type R to get console access.
